Public health officials advise seven new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:

  • a male in his 50s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday);

  • a male in his 70s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday);

  • a male in his 70s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday);

  • a female in her 80s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Tuesday);

  • a male in his 60s from Prairie Mountain Health region, linked to an unspecified variant of concern (reported Wednesday);

  • a female in her 70s from Southern Health–Santé Sud health region (reported Wednesday); and

  • a male in his 80s from Prairie Mountain Health region (reported Thursday).

Today's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.1 per cent provincially and three per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30 a.m. today, 687 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 185 cases on Tuesday, Nov. 9; 143 cases on Wednesday, Nov. 10; 166 cases Thursday, Nov 11, and 193 cases today. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 65,371. There were 193 new cases identified in Manitoba today. Of these, 105 are in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes:

Today’s data also shows:

  • 1,489 active cases and 62,613 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19;

  • 145 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 110 people with active COVID-19 as well as 35 people who are no longer infectious;

  • a total of 30 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19 including 23 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as seven people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care;

  • 3,343 laboratory tests were completed yesterday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 1,126,227 and

  • the total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,269.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • Portage District General Hospital Rehab Unit in Portage la Prairie; and

  • Russell Personal Care Home in Russel.

The facilities have been moved to Critical (Red) level on the Pandemic Response System.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • River Heights School, kindergarten cohort, in Brandon;

  • École Lacerte School, kindergarten class, in Winnipeg;

  • Westdale School, Grade 6, in Winnipeg;

  • Ralph Maybank School, grades 2/3 and 3/4 classes, in Winnipeg;

  • Edmund Partridge School, Grade 6 class, in Winnipeg; and

  • South Pointe School, Grade 2 class, in Winnipeg.

The classes have been moved to remote learning and the schools moved to the Restricted (Orange) level on the Pandemic Response System.

The outbreaks at École Régionale Notre-Dame, Grade 11/12 class, in Notre Dame des Lourdes and Springs Christian Academy-Youville Campus in Winnipeg have been declared over.

Families of personal care home (PCH) residents are reminded that effective Monday, Nov. 15 all designated family caregivers will be required to provide proof of full vaccination upon each entry to their loved one’s PCH.

Individuals who are not fully vaccinated will be able to visit as a general visitor, by appointment, and in a visitation shelter or other designated location. Families are advised to be in contact with PCH operators directly with any questions related to scheduling of appointments.

The Manitoba government is also providing an update on ongoing enforcement efforts to protect Manitobans from the spread of COVID-19. A total of 46 warnings and 20 tickets were issued for the week of Nov 1 to 7 including:

  • one $1,296 ticket to an individual;

  • 18 $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in an indoor public place; and

  • one $5,000 ticket to a business.
