COVID-19 VACCINE BULLETIN #7

Province of Manitoba Media Bulletin

December 23, 2020

Yesterday, 495 people were immunized against COVID-19 and a total of 1,687 immunizations have been given since vaccine arrived in Manitoba earlier this month. No adverse effects following immunization have been reported in Manitoba to date.

The next immunization clinic will take place at University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences on the Bannatyne campus, on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 30. To date, about 220 appointments have been made with approximately 715 remaining available. The phone line is open to eligible health-care workers from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until all spaces are filled.

Eligibility criteria have expanded slightly and include health-care workers whose work involves direct contact with patients and meet at least one of the following criteria:

• work in critical care units, born on or before Dec. 31, 1980;

• work in long-term care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1962;

• work in acute care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1960; or

• assigned to a COVID-19 immunization clinic or testing site (expanded to include testing sites).

Earlier today, the Manitoba government announced its plans to progressively immunize a broader range of health-care workers, residents of personal care homes and elderly Manitobans. This work will begin in January and will be based on the supply of available vaccine. For more information, visit www.gov.mb.ca/news.

Beginning in January, Manitoba will launch an online dashboard to provide statistics about the immunization program. More information about the vaccine campaign in Manitoba is available at www.manitoba.ca/vaccine.
