COVID-19 BULLETIN #86

Province of Manitoba Media Bulletin

May 19, 2020

Public health officials advise no new cases of COVID-19 have been identified as of 9:30 a.m. today. The total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba is 290. The data also shows: •    one individual is currently hospitalized, with none in intensive care; •    26 active cases and 257 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19; and •    the number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at seven. As of yesterday, an additional 379 laboratory tests were performed. This brings the total number of tests performed since early February to 35,578. Manitobans experiencing flu or cold-like symptoms no longer require a referral from Health Links–Info Santé or their family physician before heading to a community site for COVID-19 testing. Anyone with symptoms is still encouraged to use the online screening tool to determine whether they meet the necessary criteria to be tested. A new community testing site in Winnipeg opened this morning at Thunderbird House, 715 Main St. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is Winnipeg’s fifth community testing site and Manitoba’s 17th location. For up-to-date information on testing criteria and community screening sites, visit www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/locations.html.
