No cases of the B.1.1.529 (omicron) variant have been detected in Manitoba at this time and the province can confirm that all positive travel-related specimens are being sequenced.

Public health officials advise 11 new deaths in people with COVID-19 are being reported today:

  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region (reported Friday);

  • a female in her 60s from the Winnipeg health region (reported Saturday);

  • a male in his 60s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud region (reported Saturday);

  • a female in her 90s from the Prairie Mountain Health region and linked to the outbreak at Russell Health Centre/Russell personal care home (reported Saturday);

  • a female in her 80s from the Winnipeg health region (reported Saturday);

  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud (reported Saturday);

  • a female in her 90s from the Southern Health-Santé Sud and linked to the outbreak at Third Crossing Manor (reported Saturday);

  • a female in her 60s from the Northern health region (reported Sunday);

  • a female in her 70s from the Southern Health- Santé Sud (reported Sunday);

  • a female in her 70s from the Prairie Mountain Health region (reported Sunday); and

  • a male in his 80s from the Southern Health- Santé Sud (reported Sunday).

Today's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.1 per cent provincially and 2.7 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30 a.m. today, 495 new cases of the virus have been identified since Thursday: 153 cases on Friday, Nov. 26; 124 cases on Saturday, Nov. 27; and 132 cases on Sunday, Nov 28; and 86 cases today. This includes:

Seventeen cases have been removed due to data correction. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 67,753.

There were 86 new cases identified in Manitoba today. Of these, 40 are in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes:

Today’s data also shows:

  • 1,493 active cases and 64,945 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19;

  • 142 Manitobans hospitalized with COVID-19 including 98 people with active COVID-19 as well as 44 people who are no longer infectious;

  • a total of 25 Manitoba patients receiving intensive care for COVID-19 including 19 people in intensive care units with active COVID-19 as well as six people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care;

  • 2,095 laboratory tests were completed yesterday bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 1,171,960; and

  • the total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 1,315.

Outbreaks have been declared at:

  • Donwood assisted living in Winnipeg.

The facility has been moved to critical (Red) level on the Pandemic Response System.

An outbreak has been declared at the following school:

  • St. Alphonsus School, grade 3 class, in Winnipeg.

The class has been moved to remote learning and the school moved to the Restricted (Orange) level on the Pandemic Response System.

Outbreaks have been declared over at:

  • Benito personal care home; and

  • Health Sciences Centre, GD4 unit.

Vaccine:

Eligibility for first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine includes anyone aged five or older. A third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is now available to all adults a minimum of six months after their last dose, with limited exceptions. A total of 2,162,719 doses of vaccine have been administered in Manitoba. Many Manitoba vaccine sites are offering walk-in and appointment-based vaccinations for COVID and seasonal flu. The COVID-19 vaccine supersite at the Thompson Regional Community Centre (TRCC), 274 Thompson Dr. in Thompson will close after Wednesday, Dec. 1.
